Paul L. Tetreault

As a partner and member of both the Medical Malpractice Defense and the General Liability Groups, Paul brings over 30 years of expertise to a wide variety of matters in sports, recreation and motorsports litigation, construction defect, product liability, premises and general liability litigation. Paul specializes in insurance defense claims of professional negligence, primarily medical and dental, as well as general personal injury, and insurance coverage cases.

Paul has extensive jury trial experience and has tried numerous cases in both the medical malpractice and general liability arenas. He is also an expert in appellate matters and has obtained favorable decisions for his clients from the Court of Appeal.

In the General Liability unit Paul has successfully represented and defended racing and sports venues throughout California and Nevada. His clients have included professional sports teams, the largest racing venues in the West, grass roots short tracks, national sanctioning bodies (NASCAR, NHRA, SCCA, IHBA, IKF), youth sports, triathlons, hot air balloon pilots, equestrian facilities, international racing promoters, municipalities, school districts, State Fair Associations, facilities owners, teams and participants.

These cases typically involve catastrophic injuries and deaths, including multiple fatalities. In the course of his career Paul has saved the Firm’s clients several million dollars through the effective, although highly contested, use of event Waiver & Release agreements and the assumption of risk defenses, obtaining scores of summary judgments and dismissals before trial. Paul is a frequent speaker at conferences regarding the efficacy of event Waiver & Release agreements and the defense of sports and recreation facilities.
